Fall Semester August 12th – December 8th, 2019

All dance classes are held at Paradise Performing Arts Center @ 29 Shipman Street #202, Hilo HI 96720.

Keiki Ballet/Creative Movement (Ages 3-6) Mondays 4:30 – 5:15pm
Students from ages 3 through 6 for Contemporary ballet will learn basic ballet and modern steps. Technique from Martha Graham and George Balanchine alongside a few others will be taught to the students. Throughout the semester the students will learn body discipline through correct placement and alignment in order to prevent injuries. This class will help provide a healthy and enjoyable learning environment and allow the students to experience freedom in dance. We will utilize barre and center exercises into combinations that will strengthen the students’ technique.
$170 Semester Tuition

Keiki Ballet/Creative Movement (Ages 3-6) Tuesdays 3:30-4:15pm
Children ages 3 – 6 will learn and explore movement through the use of imaginative play, props, fun dances and music. This class will help to develop physical and mental coordination, cognitive skills, body awareness and knowledge. Children will also learn basic Mindfulness techniques to help children tune into their bodies, their senses and learn how to breathe to help keep them balanced.

Beg/Int contemporary Ballet (Ages 7-14) – Friday 5:00-6:00pm

Ballet is a type of performance dance that originated in the Italian Renaissance courts of the 15th century and later developed into a concert dance form in France and Russia. It has since become a widespread, highly technical form of dance with its own vocabulary based on French terminology. It has been globally influential and has defined the foundational techniques used in many other dance genres. Becoming a ballet dancer requires years of training. Ballet has been taught in various schools around the world, which have historically incorporated their own cultures to evolve the art.
